Century Park Associates’ Going the Extra Mile program honors associates who go beyond their job descriptions in caring for residents, their families and fellow associates. Here are two of the inspiring stories from our May 2019 winners:
Almaz Ghebru, certified nursing assistant at Pointe Frontier in Cheyenne, Wyoming
When a resident was going to miss lunch because of a dentist appointment, Ghebru was quick to realize that this meal was the resident’s favorites and did not want her to miss out. He made a special plate for the resident and stored it in the refrigerator for her to enjoy when she returned from the appointment. Ghebru even remembered the resident is Jewish and paid special attention to the resident’s dietary needs when picking out her food. The effort of Ghebru demonstrates thoughtfulness and kindness and makes Pointe Frontier an even more positive environment.
Josh Ducheny, cook at the Garden Plaza of Greenbriar Cove in Ooltewah, Tennessee
Starting out as a dishwasher, Ducheny has worked his way up by being a “jack of all trades” for the building. From helping the servers clear tables to delivering meals and covering extra shifts, Ducheny is known for his hard work and eagerness to be a positive asset to the company. Put simply: he makes sure everyone’s needs are met without anyone asking. Fellow residents and associates agree that being a quick learner is one of his greatest talents, and his optimistic attitude inspires the people around him every day.
