These communities understand the risk that visitors and third-party care providers can pose for residents and staff and have put in place policies to help mitigate that risk. More PhotosHaving spent many summers in the Navajo Nation with her grandmother and surrounded by elders in her hometown on the reservation, Tyrellyna always had a deep love and respect for seniors.
As a Navajo woman, Tyrellyna upheld her role as a matriarch in her family and looked after and spent time with her late grandmother and the elders in her community. She often took them food, paid them visits and helped them around their homes. That was when she developed a love for seniors and a desire to help others.
Tyrellyna began her career in early childhood education before transitioning into a career in senior living. She has served at The Bridge at Farmington for nearly 15 years.
Tyrellyna was the business office manager at The Bridge at Farmington before being asked to step into the role of executive director about eight years ago. It’s a role she continues to embrace today.
Tyrellyna prides herself in looking for creative and innovative ways to serve the senior community and credits her Navajo upbringing and culture for her leadership skills and style. She believes that “every person has a purpose. Their abilities, skills and passions are so important and can inspire one another.”
Tyrellyna loves working with our seniors because each day is different. The share so much humor, wisdom and advice with us.
"I’m grateful to be able to hear stories of their past and hopes for the future," said Tyrellyna. "It has been a wonderful and beautiful blessing to be able to serve our senior family."
In her spare time, Tyrellyna enjoys being a mother and a grandmother, spending time with her family, hosting family events and cheering on her beloved Los Angeles Dodgers.
