Century Park Associates is a proud supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association. As we kick off our fundraising season, we dedicate our energies to the more than 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s. One in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another dementia, and it is for this reason we have partnered with our affiliate, Life Care Centers of America, in doing our part to end this disease.
Life Care is a leading provider of Alzheimer’s and dementia care, and since 2014, their National Team has raised more than $450,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. Their recent music video, “Remember,” is dedicated to the seniors in their care who have no memory of the inspiration they provided to their families and communities.
The story behind “Remember” focuses on Clara York, grandmother of John York, audio engineer at Life Care Centers of America, who passed away in February 2017, after a nine-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Clara was the piano teacher in her hometown of Andover, New York. Most significantly however, is the legacy she poured into her grandchildren, teaching John and his seven siblings to play the piano and read music. Her dedication, influence and personal sacrifice are the reason that John and his siblings became professional musicians.
Upon hearing about his grandmother’s death, younger brother, Isaac, worked through the night to write a tribute song for her. Within two days, sister, Mari, had written the words and melody. Together, they recorded the song at home, and it was played at their grandmother’s funeral.
Weeks later, John shared the song with Life Care leadership. It was clear that it was a perfect fit for the annual music video production. The York family was brought into the studio to record the final version of the song, and then video production began.
We dedicate this tribute to those living with the disease, their caretakers and the residents in our care who may one day be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. We are ready for a world without Alzheimer’s and plan to do our part in ensuring that day comes very soon.
